Jake Fong, M.D., 84, of Greensburg , passed away Wednesday, Sept. 22, 2010, in Excela Westmoreland Hospital . He was born Oct. 17, 1925, in Pittsburgh , a son of the late Chong Fook and Wong Shee Fong. He was a member of First Reformed United Church of Christ, Greensburg . He was a charter member of the American College of Emergency Physicians and the Westmoreland County Medical Society and belonged to other several professional and civic organizations. Dr. Fong had a private medical practice and was director of emergency medicine at Westmoreland Hospital . He was a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh having received his bachelor of science degree in 1948 and doctor of medicine degree in 1953. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Faye (Gartley) Fong; a brother, We Eng Fong; and sister, Doris Izumi. Surviving are his children, Wendy R. Fong, of Pound Ridge, N.Y., Donna L. Fong, of Greensburg, Karen F. Howes, of Haleiwa, Hawaii, and Kevin T. Fong and wife, Darcie, of Delmont; three grandchildren, Haley A. Saba and Dylan and Lief Howes; a brother, Sam Fong, of Pittsburgh; and two sisters, Dorothy Choy, of Pittsburgh, and Eleanor Tang, of Phoenix, Ariz. Family and friends will be received from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday at the KEPPLE-GRAFT FUNERAL HOME INC., 524 North Main St., Greensburg. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 9, 2010, at First United Church of Christ, 314 South Maple Ave. , Greensburg , with the Rev. Steven Craft officiating. A reception will follow in the church fellowship hall. Interment will be private.
