James Byer

James Bernard Byer, 88 of Greensburg, passed away, Tuesday March 2, 2021 with his family members at his side.

He was born September 25, 1932 in Pittsburgh a son of the late John Clarence Byer and Leila Mae (Howard) Byer.

Jim was a graduate of Wilkinsburg High School and earned his Associates Degree from Pennsylvania State University  in Industrial Management. He was a proud veteran having served in the US Army Corp of Engineers during Korean War. Prior to retirement, he worked as a Real Estate Broker and Owned West Penn Realty Company in Belle Vernon. Jim had also been employed for 41 years with Peoples Natural Gas/Consolidated Natural Gas in Engineering, Construction and Fleet Management. He was an active member of the Pennsylvania and American Gas Associations, National Association of Fleet Managers, Member of Masonic Lodge, and Westmoreland Photography Society, St. Vincent College Photography Club and Lenshooters Photography Club of Peters Township. Jim was a life long lover of photography.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, John H. Byer of Carlisle and sister, Helen Byer of Pittsburgh.

Surviving are his loving wife, Virginia Marie (Rogers) Byer of Delmont; children, Diane Byer Morris (Joel) of Boca Raton, FL, Pamela Byer of Greensburg and James Byer (Anne Marie) of McMurray; grandchildren, Michael Byer, Alison and Max Morris, Brittany and Brandon Byer.

A funeral mass will be held on Friday, April 9th at 12:30pm at St. Benedict the Abbot Church 120 Abington Drive, McMurray, PA 15317. Private interment will follow in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Bridgeville with military honors.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Jim's name can be made to VFW and Honor Flights.
