James H. "Jim" Chapman, Jr., 82, of Greensburg, died, Saturday, September, 20, 2014, at his home. He was born October 25, 1931, in Claremont, NH, a son of the late James H. and Marion Taylor Chapman, Sr.
After graduating from Stevens High School, in Claremont, he attended the University of New Hampshire. In Korea, Jim served as a corporal with the U.S. Army Signal Corp. At one time, he was the owner and operator of the Mobil Service Station in Claremont, NH.
Prior to retirement, he was a mechanical designer for 32 years with Sullivan Machinery Company, later known as, Joy Manufacturing in Claremont, NH and Franklin, PA. Jim was a member of the Aerobic Center of Greensburg, where he enjoyed participating in the Silver Sneakers program. Also, he took great pleasure in attending Art on Tap 5.2.7. at the Westmoreland Museum of Art.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, June Rose George, in 2008.
Jim is survived by 2 daughters, Cathy Stewart of Grand Junction, CO and Laura (William) Schweiger of Baden; 3 sons, Jason (Marty) Chapman of Montrose, CO, Peter Chapman, of Greensburg and James Chapman of Australia; 8 grandchildren.
A gathering of family and friends will take place at Kepple-Graft Funeral on Tuesday from 6-8 pm where a memorial service will take place at 8 pm.
