James William “Jim” Fichtner, 71, of Jeannette passed away on Wednesday, April 12, 2023, in Excela Health Westmoreland Hospital. He was born July 31, 1951, in McKeesport, a son of the late James Isaac and Betty Thompson Fichtner. Jim was Methodist by faith. Prior to retirement, he enjoyed a successful career in the railroad industry as a technical service representative for Harsco Track Technologies, Portec and Fairmont Tamper; roles that allowed him to travel to 49 of 50 United States, Canada and Mexico, and return with plenty of experiences and stories to tell. After retiring from the railroad industry, he became a small business owner, where he ran Arlington Mower Repair in Jeannette, PA and loved interacting with his customers. He loved boating at Raystown Lake, fishing, golfing and the occasional hunting season. In later years, as a retiree, Jim enjoyed being a member of the Jeanette Italian Club, where he played bocci and shuffleboard, and spending time with his family, great friends and his beloved bull terrier, Sidney. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife and high-school sweetheart Barbara Ann Blaskewicz Fichtner; his sister, Linda Fichtner, and his stepmother, Frances Fichtner. He is survived by his daughter, Briana Dyer (Ryan). A memorial service for Jim will be held at 2 pm on Sunday, April 16 at Kepple-Graft Funeral Home, 524 North Main Street, Greensburg. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association. For online condolences, please visit www.kepplegraft.com
