James Nelson “Jim” Markitell, 65, of Greensburg, died, Monday, October 14, 2024, in Allegheny General Hospital. He was born in Philadelphia on May 21, 1959, a son of the late Ernest Markitell and Joan Nelson Markitell. Jim was a graduate of The Kiski School and Thiel College. Along with his wife, Anna, he was the owner of the former Antique Oddities in Jeannette. He also had worked for Iris Technology. An avid Steelers fan, Jim was a season ticket holder since 1971. He was the proud owner of the late Jerry Garcia’s limousine van in which he loved to travel with his family. Jim will be missed by his family, his lap cat, Dutch and his other cats, Salome and Archie. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Annamary “Anna” Scowary Markitell; his daughter Kristin Markitell and her husband, Ken Bacan; brothers, Ed Graff (Nicole) and Jim Graff (Lori); Aunts, Linda Deschenes and June Hayes; Aunt Rosella and Uncle Joe Iezzi; brother-in-law, John Scowary (Bonnie); also, many nieces, nephews and cousins. Family and friends will be received on Friday, October 18, from 3 pm to 7 pm at Kepple-Graft Funeral Home, 524 North Main Street, Greensburg. A funeral service for Jim will be held on Saturday, October 19, at 10 am in the funeral home.
