James J. Rafferty Jr.,75, died Monday, October 28, 2013 due to advanced Parkinson's Disease. He was born January 31, 1938 in Johnstown a son of the late James and Ethel (Maier) Rafferty.
"Jim" was an admired businessman and company President running various companies including AMI Doduco for over 25 years. He saw much of the world while traveling for business; places like Estonia, Germany, Italy, England, Puerto Rico and many others. In his younger years he coached basketball and football for elementary school students. Ever since attending the Naval Academy he had an interest in boating. Thanks to his son and some good friends, he was able to enjoy a bit of that hobby in his later years completing The Great Loop. Jim and Tim were members of AGLCA: American Great Loop Cruisers Association.
Jim also worked for Galliker's Dairy, McCreary Tire and Rubber Co, Bacharach Industries, Dietrich and Chatillon Companies.
Surviving are his wife, Janice A. (Mapstone) Rafferty; children, Patricia, Timothy, and Bridget and husband, Eric Himler, two beautiful grandchildren, Tristen and Claire, brother of Raymond Rafferty and wife, Margaret (Kiniry), sister of Msgr. Lawrence Kiniry.
Family and friends will be received on Wednesday from 2-4pm & 6-8pm at the KEPPLE-GRAFT Funeral Home, 524 North Main Street Greensburg.
A prayer service will be held at 9:30am on Thursday in the funeral home followed by a funeral mass at 10am at the Blessed Sacrament Cathedral.
Interment will follow in the St. Clair Cemetery.
