James Ruffner 'Ruff' Sphon, 61 of Greensburg, husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, and uncle passed away on Thursday, July 9, 2015 after a courageous battle with lung cancer.
He was born in Jamestown, NY, a son of Jacob Sphon and the late Mary Jane (Ruffner) Sphon.
In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his brother, Clyde 'Bud' Sphon and beloved Aunt Annebelle.
Surviving are his wife, Diana L. Sphon, his children, Jamie Fisher (Tom) of Ruffsdale, Clyde 'Bud' Sphon (Sarah) of Fairmont, WV; his father, Jacob Sphon and wife, Phyllis ,five grandchildren, Sam, Anthony Sphon, Cayden Fisher, Briella and Alanah Sphon; his brothers and sisters, Jake Sphon (Linda) of Latrobe, William 'Bill' Sphon (Barbara) of Latrobe, Daisy Rymarowicz (Gary) of North Huntingdon, Billie Jo Federer (Dan) of Cleveland Oh; numerous nieces and nephews', his Aunt Faye, and his three dogs, Brandy, Callie, and Angel.
Jim was a veteran of the US Marine Corp serving in Vietnam, a Boy Scout Leader, a machinist and a member of the South Greensburg Hunt Club. Jim enjoyed shooting pool and also fishing.
Ruff was known, that he could fix anything and often did. Jim loved his family dearly and though words were unspoken the family always knew he was there for them. He was his family's protector and had a heart of gold.
Family and friends will be received Monday from 3-7pm at the KEPPLE-GRAFT Funeral Home 524 N. Main Street, Greensburg.
Services will be private.
