Janice Ellen (Hall) Huba, 85, of Greensburg passed away peacefully Saturday, January 22, 2022 in her home. A life-long resident of Greensburg, she was born September 8, 1936, daughter of the late William Chalmers and Ruth (Henry) Hall.
Janice graduated from Greensburg Salem High School in 1954, before starting a career as a telephone operator at Bell Telephone and later working as a school bus driver for Armbrust Christian Academy and other private schools. Unlike many of us, her “living to work” mantra meant much more than just earning a small paycheck. She worked in the fields that she did because of her care of others - and love of talking. She extended that love by volunteering for many years with the Westmoreland Chapter of the American Red Cross and supporting numerous local and national non-profit organizations. An avid bird watcher, dog mom and neighborhood animal caregiver, her heart was full of immense joy by helping all creatures, great and small. All who knew her will agree that kindness defined her amazing life well lived.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Albert Huba, as well as a loving sister and best friend, Patricia Ann (Hall) Schultz and brother-in-law, Dr. Theodore Schultz, all of Greensburg.
Surviving are her devoted only son, Stephen A. Huba and wife Susan (LaRue) Huba, and cherished grandchildren, Nolan William and Adalie Ellen, of Ligonier; nieces, Carole Burr and Paula Schultz; nephews, Theodore, Eric, and Larry (Debbie) Schultz, as well as several great-nieces, nephews and cousins; and, of course, her faithful furry companion, Biscuit.
Family and Friends will be received on Wednesday from 4 to 6 pm at Kepple-Graft Funeral Home, 524 N. Main Street, Greensburg. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Thursday at 10 am with her Pastor, Rev. Steven Craft officiating. A private entombment will be held in the Westmoreland Co. Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, meals, or gifts, the family graciously asks all to consider contributing to the American Red Cross, 351 Harvey Avenue, Greensburg, PA 15601 or Animal Friends of Westmoreland, 216 Depot Street, Youngwood, PA 15197. More so, the family hopes all will continue Janice’s legacy of caring for others and extending a helping hand to anyone, or anything, in need. For online condolences, please visit www.kepplegraft.com
