(Lenora) Jean Cowell, 85, of Greensburg, passed away Tuesday, March 22, 2022. Jean was born Aug. 20, 1936, in Morgantown, W.Va., the daughter of the late Frank and Mabel Bishop. Jean was a wonderful wife and mother and her family was her world. She worked briefly as a telephone operator in Waynesburg before becoming an exceptional homemaker who enjoyed treating her family and friends to delicious meals and desserts (especially her famous cinnamon rolls and peanut butter Easter eggs). In the past, Jean enjoyed sewing, canning items from their garden and traveling with her husband. She especially enjoyed trips out west to visit family and to Florida to spend time with friends. Jean was a 1954 graduate of Clay-Battelle High School in Blacksville, W.Va. In addition to her parents, Jean was preceded in death by six brothers, Joe, Harold, James, Bernard, Roger and Bob Bishop. She is survived by her husband of more than 63 years, Thomas Cowell; their two daughters, Donna Senft (Dan) and Sharon Kolson (John); three sisters-in-law, Betty, Almuth and Belinda Bishop; and several nieces and nephews. Jean had four grandchildren, Maureen Ward (Evan), Brian Senft, Andrew Kolson and Erica Kolson; and three great-grandsons, Micah, Peter and Timothy Ward, who always made her smile. Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, March 25, and from 10 a.m. to the 11 a.m. funeral service Saturday, March 26, at South Greensburg United Methodist Church, 411 Sheridan Ave. in South Greensburg, with Pastors Pam Ramsey and Robert Moffat. Interment will follow in Westmoreland County Memorial Park. KEPPLE-GRAFT FUNERAL HOME is entrusted with the arrangements. For online condolences and information, please visit www.kepplegraft.com.
