Jennings F. Womack, 80, of Greensburg, died peacefully Wednesday January 14, 2015.
He was born January 28, 1934 in St. Albans, West Virginia, son of the late Henry Edward and Amanda Buzzard Womack.
After a 35 year career at Sears, Roebuck and Co., he began the second phase of his professional life with leadership positions in non-profit organizations. He served as president of the Westmoreland Cultural Trust and then Westmoreland -Frick Hospital Foundation. He recently added "Coach" to his resume by working with the Greensburg-Salem High School varsity football team.
His passion for life was community service as he contributed his time to numerous non-profit organizations throughout his life. He was a member of the Charter Oak United Methodist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters Rachel Williams and Hazel Reed and nephew, Jack Womack.
He will be greatly missed by his wife of 60 years, Eleanor Halley Womack; 2 sons, Mark and his wife Dani, and Scott both of Greensburg; 7 grandchildren, Scott, Erica, Emma Kate, Alexa, Amanda, Carla, and Rachel and siblings Homer Womack, Phyllis Webster and Freeda Maddox.
Respecting Jennings' wishes, there will be no public visitation and the memorial service for the family will be private.
