Jill Joan Linsz, beloved sister, aunt, and friend to many, died Thursday. Feb. 17, 2022. She was born Feb. 5, 1959, in Ithaca, N.Y., a daughter of the late Ralph and Joan (Kubilus) Linsz. Jill graduated from Seton Hill College in 1981, earning her Bachelor’s of Music with a major in voice. She loved working with children and music. Jill was an elementary music teacher for one year at Hampton School District and went on to teach at Pine Richland for 34 years until her retirement in 2016. During that time, she served multiple times as a president of the teachers union, the Pine Richland Education Association (PREA). She was honored with the Western Regions Friend of Education Award. Jill also taught private piano lessons for many years and loved mentoring students of music. Jill was an active 42-year member of First Presbyterian Church where she served as a deacon. She was a 40-plus-year chancel choir member and a featured soloist. Jill also served as director of children's music in the church. At one time, she had also been the choir director for Bakerstown Presbyterian Church. In retirement, she found a love of gardening and her rescue dog, Rusty. Surviving are her sisters, Joy Linsz (Gary Smith) and Judy Ross (JR); niece, Allison Barry (Patrick); great-nephew, Malcolm James Barry; and faithful companion, Rusty. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 21, 2022, in First Presbyterian Church, 300 S. Main St., Greensburg. KEPPLE-GRAFT FUNERAL HOME is entrusted with the arrangements.
