Jim Alcorn

April 26, 1945 — January 13, 2021

Jim Alcorn, 75, of Irwin passed away Jan. 13 in Forbes Regional hospital due to Covid 19 complications.  He was preceded in death by parents Ruth and Matthew Alcorn.

He is survived by loving wife of 52 years, Jackie Faust Alcorn, and four children: Matt (Amy) of Chicago, IL,  Mike (Mary) of Palm Beach, FL, Dan of Bridgeville, and Jeannie Oberdorf (Doug) of Greensburg.  Also surviving are 11 amazing grandchildren whom he adored:  Jayne Lynn (Parker), Jack and Claire (fiancé Greg) Oberdorf and Jimmy, Charlie, Molly, Betsy, Joe, Michael, Mark, and Matthew Alcorn.  He is survived by two sisters: Carol Alcorn Lichty of Laurel, MD and Ruth Anne Mewhirter of  Penfield, NY and numerous nieces and nephews.

Jim was a standout athlete at Penn Hills HS and Clarion Univ. of PA and was drafted by the Cleveland Browns in 1968.  He played for the Wheeling Ironmen and then started a teaching career at Penn Hill School District.

He was a member of Christ’s Church Greensburg where he was an usher and server at salad bar events.   In his retirement he was dedicated to supporting children and grandchildren in countless athletic endeavors and other activities.  His best days were at family gatherings and on the golf course.

His positive, loving attitude and a smile for everyone is a legacy that will be cherished by family and all who knew him.

There will be no viewing and private services were held. Memorial contributions can be made to Christ’s Church Anglican, Greensburg PA.  or Clarion University Foundation with Clarion University Football on the memo line.
