John Ciotti

John Julius Ciotti, 91, of Greensburg, passed away Friday, Nov. 4 at his residence. Born May 8, 1920 in Jeannette, Pa to Mary and Tranquillo Ciotti.

John was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and uncle who dedicated his life to the well being of his family.

He is survived by his daughter Charlotte Ciotti Gallagher, DC, and her husband, Martin Gallagher, MD, DC; his grandson Todd Gallagher; his surviving nieces and nephews, including Kathleen Catalano, MD; Alberta Riley; Paul Ciotti and James Ciotti. Many have called him Uncle Johnny including Louis W Catalano III, MD; Elizabeth Catalano, MD; Jamea Campbell MD; Fredrick M Campbell II and their children, William and Lucy Catalano and Quintin, Trey, and Reed Campbell.

In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his loving wife, Laura Vezzetti Ciotti; brothers, Albert, Earl and Arthur Ciotti; sisters, Ange DeLuca and Ida Hohn; a niece, Laura Gazze Stingl, as well as, several other nieces and nephews.

John took great pride in his service to his country in World War II as a Master Sergeant in the 8th Army Air Force Fighter Command. Following his return from Europe, John took over the family business for 40 years, the Jeanette Monument Works. John was a member of Our Lady of Grace church, and a member of the M&S Club and the bocce league. Active and vibrant his entire life, he worked every day as the CFO of Medical Wellness Associates in Jeanette, PA. He will be missed by the staff and patients.

Last year, John was the star of a short film "Young at Heart" that showed the positive outlook on the world he took into his later years. The film is currently showing at festivals and can be seen at www.johnciotti.com. John wrote extensively about his experiences in WWII in his upcoming book: Romanticizing the War.

There will be no visitation. A Memorial Mass will be held at 10 A.M. on Friday Nov.11 in Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, Greensburg. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to the Carmelite Monastery, 5206 Center Drive, Latrobe, Pa. 15650. Arrangements have been entrusted to the KEPPLE-GRAFT FUNERAL HOME, INC. 524 N. Main St. Greensburg, (an Authorized Remembrance Provider).
