John "Jack" Edgar Eisaman, 84, of Greensburg , passed away Monday, March 7, 2011, at Excela Health Westmoreland, after a brief battle with cancer. He was born July 4, 1926, in Greensburg , the son of John and Bertha Ceilia (McCurdy) Eisaman. He graduated from Greensburg High School , class of 1944. He entered the Navy and served aboard the Deystroyer USS Stribling DD867 during World War II. He attended Washington and Jefferson College and graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with a Bachelor of Science degree. He was an avid Pitt fan throughout his life. He was an employee of ITE Circuit Breaker Co. of South Greensburg until 1961, when he entered the insurance profession. He retired in 1992 as president and owner of McDowell Associates Inc. Insurance Agency. During his insurance career, he was a member of the Insurance Club of Pittsburgh, the Independent Insurance Agents Association (IIAA) and Professional Insurance Agents Associations. He served as president of the county chapter, director of the Pennsylvania Association and a member of the National Association of IIAA. He served several terms on the Hartford Insurance Groups Jonathan Trumbull Council. In 1973, he was recognized as the Statesman Insurance Company Pennsylvania Distinguished Agent of the Year. He was the current owner of McDowell Realty Inc. For many years, he had volunteered for the United Fund of Central Westmoreland. He was the campaign chairman in 1971 and president in 1972. He was a life member of the First Presbyterian Church of Greensburg, member of Phi Gamma Delta (Alpha - Pi Sigma Chapters) Fraternity, member of American Legion Post No. 981 and VFW. He was also a former member of BPOE Lodge No. 511 and Hannastown Golf Club. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Vera Margaret (Slezak) Eisaman. They enjoyed traveling, golfing and their winters in Jekyll Island . In addition to his wife, he is also survived by his children, John Eisaman Jr. and his wife, Connie (Lipscomb), of Alexandria, Va., Susan (Eisaman) Yakubisin and her husband, John, of Greensburg, Karl Eisaman and his wife, Carmen (Kowinski), of Greensburg, and Andrew Eisaman and his wife, Rene (Stow), of St. Charles, Mo.; granddaughter, Anne Yakubisin, of Ardmore, and her fiance, Christopher Smith; sister, Helen (Eisaman) Murray, of Greensburg; and numerous nieces and nephews. Jack enjoyed mentoring and his friendship with Mike Guidas. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Lewis McCurdy Eisaman. Family and friends will be received from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday in the KEPPLE-GRAFT FUNERAL HOME INC., 524 N. Main St. , Greensburg . A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in the First Presbyterian Church, 300 S. Main St., Greensburg, with the Rev. Martin R. Ankrum officiating (everyone please go directly to the church). Interment with full military honors accorded by the VFW Post No. 33 will follow in St. Clair Cemetery. The family has requested memorial donations be made to the Westmoreland Cultural Trust, 102 N.
