John Mahl, Iii

July 9, 1956 — November 3, 2016

John Fredrick Mahl, III, 60 years old of Greensburg, passed on, lovingly surrounded by his wife and three daughters, Thursday, November 3, 2016. He was born in Buffalo, NY, a son of Barbara Strachan Mahl of Toronto, Canada and the late John F. Mahl, II. John was employed as a Technical Sales Engineer with Carpenter Powder Products. He was a graduate of the University of Buffalo with a degree in Geo-Chemical Engineering.  John was extremely creative whether it was building cabinets or painting a lovely picture. He was a homebody at heart, even though he traveled the world for his profession and with his family.  John was a cigar aficionado who loved music and red wine. He was an avid reader of mystery novels, especially Sherlock Holmes.  John was a “weather geek” and an amateur storm chaser as well as a History buff. There wasn’t a topic he couldn’t contribute to, and all who crossed his path, left learning something new. With his unique sense of humor, John entertained his family and friends through humorous pranks and elaborate stories that always kept you guessing.  John faced many challenges from a very young age living with type 1 Diabetes, and his family continually works at bringing awareness to this hidden disease. John is survived by, his loving wife, Constance Stellaccio Mahl; daughters, Frances L., Danielle J. and Yvonne T. Mahl, all of Greensburg; His mother Barbara; 3 brothers, Dr. Thomas Mahl, Robert Mahl, both of Buffalo, NY and Daniel Mahl (Amy) of Albany, NY; a sister, Lisa Blackley (Dr. Ron) of Ashland, OH; nephews, Luke Blackley, Christopher and Eric Mahl and niece, Katie Blackley.  Family and friends will gather on Saturday, November 12, 2016 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at Kepple-Graft Funeral Home, 524 North Main Street, Greensburg.  Services will be held in Buffalo, NY, and New York, NY at later dates.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, 501 Martindale Street, # 670, Pittsburgh, PA 15212.
