John Rohrbacher

John W. Rohrbacher, 88, of Clearwater, Florida, formerly of Greensburg, passed away on May 3, 2013 in Florida.

He was born January 5, 1925 in Grapeville, PA, son of the late Charles Edward and Minnie Miller Rohrbacher.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by this loving wife of 60 years, Betty Joan Rohrbacher, six brothers, Charles, Clinton, Russell, Harry, Ralph, and Robert, and three sisters, Luella Dornin, Anna Haines, and Eleanor Kaylor.

Following his graduation from Jeannette High School in 1943, he proudly served his country as a sonar man on the USS Gary in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He served in both the Atlantic and Pacific Theaters and received a Victory Medal, a European Theater Ribbon, a Pacific Theater Ribbon, and an American Theater Ribbon. While in the Navy, he traveled completely around the world. He was honorably discharged from the Navy on June 3, 1946. He worked as a watchmaker in Pennsylvania and after moving to Florida in 1964, was a group leader in Honeywell's aeronautics space division in St. Petersburg.

John is survived by daughters Cathy (Allen) Fleeger of Palm Harbor, FL and Peggy Rohrbacher of Clearwater, FL. He was a member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Largo, FL and a Mason of East Gate Lodge for 40 years.

Family and friends will be received from 11am to 1pm on Thursday at the KEPPLE-GRAFT FUNERAL HOME (an authorized remembrance provider), 524 N. Main St., Greensburg.

Services will also be on Thursday at the funeral home at 1pm with Rev. Brian Chaffee officiating.
