John W. Sekuta, 80, of Greensburg, died, Sunday, January 8, 2023, in Redstone Highlands, Greensburg. He was born in Penn Township on April 13, 1942, a son of the late Louis Sekuta and Rose (Kobilsek) Sekuta. He was a member of St. Bruno Catholic Church where he was a past church council president. As an accomplished outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting, fly fishing and archery. John tied his own fly fishing ties and was extremely proud of bagging a trophy buck with score of 129 7/8 points, in 2001. He was a proud Air Force veteran and served in Japan and often spoke of climbing Mt. Fuji. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Arlene F. Sekuta; sisters, Rose Bilott and Lillian Swartz. John is survived by his children, Lynn M. (Poilek) Schutter (Paul) of Greensburg, John F. Sekuta (Petrice) of Cranberry and Joel R. Sekuta (Chris) of Seattle, WA; his grandsons, Jonathan and Michael Sekuta; also, several nieces and nephews. Family and friends will be received Wednesday, from 4 to 7 pm at Kepple-Graft Funeral Home, 524 North Main Street, Greensburg. A funeral mass for John will be held on Thursday at 10 am at St. Bruno Catholic Church, 1715 Poplar Street, South Greensburg, PA 15601. Everyone is asked to go directly to the church. Interment will follow in St. Vincent Cemetery, Latrobe.
