Joseph Samuel Tripoli, 74, of Kennesaw, Georgia, passed away on Sunday, June 20, 2010. He was born April 8, 1936 in Derry, Pennsylvania, the son of the late Vincenzio "James" and Mary Elizabeth Tripoli. Joe worked as a Merchandise Manager for the Kmart Corporation in Troy, MI before his retirement in 1995 after 37 years of service.
He was a member of Saint Catherine of Sienna.
Joe was a passionate and dedicated member of the Legacy Park community of Kennesaw, Georgia, where he was the very first recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award. At the top of his list of accomplishments is the organization of Big Heart, a program that sends care packages to men and women serving our country in Iraq.
He loved people and measured life in smiles. His business travels took him to the four corners of the world and he took pride in tackling issues with a friendly handshake. He was a devoted husband, brother, father, and grandfather. His reputation for beautiful Christmas displays and gardens was far reaching and brought joy to those around him.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents and his son Todd Joseph Tripoli.
Surviving are his loving wife of 19 years, Mary Lee (Hassall) Tripoli, daughter Nicole Tripoli, son James Tripoli and wife Jennifer, brother Dr. Charles Tripoli, sister Julie Morrow, granddaughters Hanna and Abby, grandson Jake, brother - in - law Tom Hassall and numerous nieces and nephews.
Family and Friends will be received 5 - 8 on Wednesday, June 23, 2010 at the Kepple-Graft Funeral Home located on 524 N. Main Street, Greensburg, PA 15601. (724-837-1201).
A funeral mass will be celebrated on Thursday, June 24, 2010 at St. Vincent Basilica, 300 Fraser Purchase Rd., Latrobe, PA 15650 at 11:30 am. Interment will follow in the St. Joseph's R.C. Cemetery, Derry, PA 15627. Memorial contributions may be made in Joe's name to St. Vincent College, 300 Fraser Purchase Road, Latrobe, PA. 15650-2690.
