Laura Balsley

Laura E Balsley, 90, of Greensburg, PA, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 31, 2023. She was born on January 22, 1933, the daughter of the late Albert C Orndorff and Cora E Orndorff of Connellsville, PA. She married the love of her life, Richard E (Dick) Balsley, on March 1, 1952. They had many beautiful years together before his passing in 2019.

Laura spent her career as an Accounting Department Manager at the Sears Roebuck & Co. After retirement, Dick and Laura traveled the world and split their time between their home in Greensburg and home-away-from-home in Ft. Myers, FL. Laura was a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church in Greensburg and Our Lady of Light in Esterao, FL.

Laura was the oldest of her four sisters (they often reminded her of that): Nancy Dawson and husband William of Pittsburgh, Mildred Hall and husband Jim of Lancaster, OH, and Jane Burkey of Atlanta, GA. She and Dick were blessed with four children: Claudia A Carraher of Bridgeport, WV and husband Larry, Richard S Balsley of Greensburg and wife Donna, Douglas J Balsley of Sewickley and wife Steffler, and Jill E Pifferetti of Ligonier and husband Thomas; four grandchildren: Erin E Carraher, Amy L Isennock and husband Christopher, Lara A Carraher, and Douglas J Balsley II; and three great grandchildren: Ryan A Isennock, Luke M Isennock, and Maxwell F Isennock.

The family sends special thanks to the Sisters of Charity and staff at the Elizabeth Seton Memory Care and Suncrest Hospice for their loving care of Laura in her final days. A private celebration and Mass will be held for family and friends. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Elizabeth Seton Memory Care (https://esmemorycare.org/) or a food bank of your choice.
