Leroy R. Fennell, 89, died peacefully at Greensburg Care Center on December 29, 2012.
He was born January 22, 1923 in Salem Township, a son of the Hudson and Ella Fennell.
Leroy was retired from Ashland Oil Inc. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy Seabees during World War II serving in the Pacific theater. Leroy was a charter member of the Charter Oak United Methodist Church.
In addition to his parents, Leroy was preceded in death by a son, Richard M. Fennell of Marysville, KS; brothers, John Fennell, Robert Fennell, & William Fennell.
Leroy is survived by his wife of 67 years, Thelma Walters Fennell; his son, Jeffrey A. Fennell and wife, Christine of Ardara; daughter-in-law, Nancy Fennell of Marysville, KS, and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family cannot put into words how much the care and compassion given by the caregivers at Greensburg Care meant these last months and especially in the final hours.
Family and friends will be received Thursday, from 2 - 4pm & 6 - 8pm at the KEPPLE-GRAFT Funeral Home, (an authorized remembrance provider) 524 North Main Street Greensburg, Pennsylvania.
Services will be held at Charter Oak United Methodist Church, Greensburg on Friday at 10:30 am with Rev. Chris Whitehead and Rev. Robert Richards co-officiating.
Private interment will take place in the Westmoreland County Memorial Park.
