Leslie T. “Ted” Wohlin, 91, of Greensburg, passed away on Tuesday, September 3rd, 2024. Ted was born on September 12, 1932, in Perrysville, Pennsylvania, the son of the late Fred Wohlin, Sr. and Grace Smith Wohlin. He served in the United States Army and, after his discharge, went on to hold various positions, including Plant Manager at Oberg Industries and Vice President at Youngwood Electronic Metals.
In 1971, Ted, along with Chester Jonczak and Sam Gruber, founded Composidie Inc., where he worked until the day he died. Over the years, Ted helped start many other businesses, but none brought him the joy that he found with his Composidie family. He was also very proud of his efforts to save and preserve Greensburg Country Club.
Ted loved telling a good (sometimes) joke, golfing, playing cards, and working, but most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family. His life was enriched by great friends, including the entire Auer family, the crew from Royal Oaks, John Fortney, Tom Kohut, as well as golf buddies, happy hour peeps, and members of the Friday Night Group at Greensburg Country Club.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by Arlene, his loving wife of 64 years, who passed in 2023; a sister, Calla Sabol; and a brother, Fred Wohlin, Jr. Ted is survived by his son and daughter, John (Debra) Wohlin of Delmont and Cathy (Randy) Smith of Greensburg; six grandchildren: Jessica (Mike) Starrett, Eric Schreiber, Daniel Schreiber, John Wohlin, Jr., Ted “Jack” Wohlin, and Benjamin Wohlin; one great-grandchild, Harrison Starrett; a sister, Anna (Marlin) Lasher of Murrysville; and many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend special thanks to “Ted’s Angels,” who provided companionship and shared in his care during the final years of his life.
Family friends will be received from 4 to 7 pm Sunday, September 8, 2024, at Kepple-Graft Funeral Home, 524 North Main Street, Greensburg and are invited to a Remembrance Reception on Monday, September 9, 2024, at the Greensburg Country Club at noon.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the John F. Fortney Charitable Pancreatic Cancer Research Group, in care of Tom Kohut at Greensburg Country Club, PO Box 964, Greensburg, PA 15601. For online condolences, please visit www.kepplegraft.com.
