Lillian Albert

December 28, 1932 — June 4, 2013

Lillian Bolko "Lill" Albert, age 80, of Greensburg passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 4, 2013. She was born December 28, 1932, in Herminie, the daughter of the late Kristjan and Amalia "Molly" Bolko. Lill was the wife of the late Robert E. "Bob" Albert for 56 years. Mrs. Albert, as she was known to many, taught English and several other subjects during her tenure at both Harrold and Wendover junior high schools in the Hempfield Area School District for almost 40 years. Her students will remember her red hair, how to diagram a sentence, and reading Great Expectations and The Merchant of Venice. Completing assignments was always a must to receive a good grade in her class. Often, former students approached Mrs. Albert to thank her for challengining them to learn the fundamentals of grammar and writing since this knowledge helped them become successful writers, lawyers, English teachers, etc. She held a B.A. from Seton Hill College and an M. Ed. from the University of Pittsburgh. She was a member of the Pennsylvania State Education Association (PSEA) and the Slovene National Benefit Society (SNPJ) Lodge 87. She is survived by her son Robert L. "Bob" Albert and his wife Michele, of Harrison City, and their two daughters Stephanie and Devon; her daughter Leigh Santo and her husband Pete, of Harrison City, and their son Jake; her daughter Lesley Ficarri and her husband, Pete, of Hopkinton, MA; two sisters Anna Mae Feltes, of Irwin, and Marie Rand, of Boston, MA; and several nieces and nephews.
