Louis A. Schmidt

Louis A. Schmidt, 63 of Export, passed away at home surrounded by all of his children along with his brother and sister and close family members Thursday, January 9, 2025.

He was born April 14, 1961 in Greensburg, a son of the late Louis Schmidt and Audrey M. Smail Schmidt.

Lou attended the Church of the Brethren, Greensburg. He was a hard worker his whole life and provided for his large family as a mechanic and maintenance man along with many other miscellaneous jobs. After retiring Lou enjoyed nights at home with his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed fishing with his kids. He was the biggest Steeler fan, and never missed a Monday night Raw. He was also a talented musician and enjoyed singing and playing his guitar. He was a handy man and could fix anything even if it was just with a hug. His grandchildren cherished their time with him and they considered him the best pappy ever. He was a man with a heart of gold and will be missed in BIG BUNCHES AND ALL OF THE TIME. 

He is survived by six sons and two daughters, Louis A. Schmidt II and wife Rachael, Greensburg; Kevin Schmidt and wife Jennifer, Greensburg; James Schmidt and wife Angelina, Latrobe; Bryon Schmidt and wife, Emily, Jeanette; Shane M. Schmidt, Export; Lynnette M. Schmidt and fiancé John, Export; Douglas A. Schmidt, Export; Heather N. Schmidt and Giovonni, Export; brother, Dewayne A. Schmidt and wife Nanette; sister, Linda L. Grabb; brother in law William Burgess and wife Becky; thirteen grandchildren, Shannon, Tristan, Kaleb, Penelope, Kallen, Liam, Kaydalynn, Dawson, Ashlynn, Austin, Logan, Hope, and Rosalyn. He will also be missed by his two beloved puppies Kora and Copper.

Lou was preceded in death by his soulmate Debra Schmidt. He was also preceded by his uncle Harry Smail, his twin sister Blanch Marshall, his sister Charlene Rhome and his brother in law Edward Grabb and other beloved relatives. 

Visitation will be on Sunday, January 12th from 2-5 PM at the KEPPLE-GRAFT Funeral Home, 524 N. Main Street, Greensburg, where a funeral service will be held at 5:00 PM.
