Louise Ross

Louise Foster Ross, 81, of Greensburg, passed away Thursday, February 4, 2010 in Excela Health Westmoreland Hospital. She was born November 2, 1928 in Cowansville, Pa a daughter of the late Floyd and Florence White Foster. Following graduation as a member of the National Honor Society from New Kensington High School, she worked at Wearever Aluminum and General Electric. She met Carl in 1946. They were married in Markle, PA on August 7, 1948 at Pine Run Presbyterian Church. Together they raised six children. They moved to Greensburg in 1966. Louise had a strong Christian faith. She played the piano for church services at Pine Run Presbyterian Church in Markle, served as a Deaconess at First Presbyterian Church of Greensburg, was a member of Eastern Star, Jobe's Daughter's and Lois Circle. She was also a member of Cheshamac Garden Club. Louise devoted her life to her husband, children, and family. Family vacations and reunions were always fun and adventurous. Following Carl's retirement from Allegheny Power Company, they traveled extensively touring the United States, Canada, and a memorable trip to Europe to visit sites where Carl served during World War II. She loved politics and served as Vice Chairman of the Westmoreland County Republican Party. Louise ran for public office and was elected Jury Commissioner in 1974. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother William. Louise is survived by her husband Carl of 61 years, daughters Janet Schuchman of Greensburg, Joyce Andrews and her husband Charlie of Blossburg, PA, Beverly McClung and her husband Tom of Kennett Square, PA, sons Wesley of Jeannette, PA, Mark and wife Gayle of York, PA, and Ken and wife Pam of Greensburg, PA, her brother Lee of Placentia, CA, brother-in-law Charlie Ross of Greensburg, PA. She was loved and adored by her eleven grandchildren: Jen and Jay Schuchman, Claire and Allison McClung, Carl and Chelsea Ross, Joe, Alaina, and Derek Ross, Zack and Sydney Ross, four step grandchildren, Chuck Andrews and wife Judy, Dawn Vanderwolf and husband Steve, Donna McDevitt, Steve Andrews and wife Wanda and twelve step-great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at the First Presbyterian Church, 300 So. Main Street Greensburg on Saturday March 13, 2010 at 11:00 am with Rev. Martin Ankrum officaitng. . In lieu of flowers the family has requested memorial donations to the First Presbyterian Church in Louise's memory.
