Margaret T. Haines, 99, of Greensburg, passed away Sunday, May 1, 2022.
She was born July 20, 1922, the daughter of the late George H. and Violet (Martin) Taylor.
Margaret was a member of First Reformed United Church of Christ, Greensburg. She was a veteran having served in the Navy WAVES during World War II from December 1943 until July 1946 as Storekeeper V First Class (Aviation). She and Fred met at a USO dance in Norfolk, Virgina, where he filled her dance card. Margaret worked for Crown Creative and also worked and retired from the Department of Public Welfare/Human Services where she worked from 1975 to 1985. She loved her family and attending family events, she enjoyed traveling to Myrtle Beach and Florida, bird watching from her kitchen window, playing Bingo at West Point VFD, playing pinochle and going on casino trips with her friends, and coffee with her neighbors.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Frederick L. Haines, Jr. in 1991; and brother, George Taylor.
She is survived by her children, Frederick L. (Ingrid) Haines, III; and Denise (Paul) Elias; her grandchildren, Sabrina (Gary) Osterholt, Brant (Becca) Haines, and Rachael (Aaron) Geer; her step-grandchildren, Ruth (Dan) Lutz and Teresa (Phillip) VanderLee; great-grandchildren, Isabella, Oliver and Abigail; great-step-grandchildren, Raymond, Joseph, Eli, and Emmet; sister-in-law, Isabelle Taylor; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Her family would like to extend a special thank you to St. Anne's Villa Angela nursing and support staff for their loving care of Margaret and also Excela Hospice for their care of our mother. Family and friends will be received on Wednesday, May 4th from 10 to 11 am at KEPPLE-GRAFT Funeral Home, 524 N.Main Street, Greensburg, PA. Services will be held in the funeral home on Wednesday at 11 am followed by entombment in Twin Valley Memorial Park.
