Mary Metcalfe

April 11, 1917 — December 6, 2011

Mary Ellen (Citty) Metcalfe died peacefully at Excela Westmoreland Hospital in Greensburg and went to be with her beloved husband on December 6, 2011. She was born April 11, 1917 in Brownsville, PA, the daughter of Stanley and Myrtle Sprowls. She married Raymond Metcalfe, also of Brownsville, on June 24, 1941. Citty was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 64 years, and her sister Ruth L. Moore of Rochester NY. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Rose Lee Metcalfe of Greensburg, grandchildren Ross, of Helena MT, Rosalyn of Tulsa, OK, and Robert and wife Shannon of Austin, TX, a niece, Carolyn Pestke of Rochester, NY, and a sister-in-law, Norma Cox and nephew Norman Cox of Indianapolis, IN.

A long time resident of Tulsa, OK, Citty loved playing bridge, sewing crewel pictures and growing flowers. She moved to Newhaven Court in Greensburg in March of 2007 when her failing eyesight forced her into assisted living. At Newhaven Court she always enjoyed frequent bingo games with the residents. She was especially fond of Angie, Sarah, and Colette who took such good care of her there.

Citty has asked that there be no public viewing or flowers. A memorial service will be arranged at a later time and place. KEPPLE-GRAFT FUNERAL HOME ( an authorized remembrance provider) entrusted with the arrangements.

As an expression of sympathy, contributions in Citty's memory can be made to Macular Degeneration Research, 15825 Shady Grove Suite #140, Rockville, Md. 20850.
