Mary Ann "Mimi" Pacienza Weaver, 77, of Greensburg, died Thursday, April 15, 2021, in Westmoreland Manor. She was born in Greensburg on September 4, 1943, a daughter of the late Frank and Mary Brandonio Pacienza. She was a member of St. Bruno Catholic Church, South Greensburg.
In 1961 she graduated and was first in her class at St. Xavier Academy, Latrobe. She was a 1965 graduate of Seton Hill College with a Bachelor of Science in Physics and later received her Masters of Education in Physics from Indiana University of PA in 1980. For twenty years, she worked as a senior nuclear engineer in nuclear safety for Westinghouse Electric Corporation. She taught math and science at Greensburg Institute of Technology for two years. She also taught physics and honors physics at Greensburg Central Catholic High School for 15 years before retiring in January 2008.
She was a member of the American Association of Physics Teachers, National Science Teachers Association, and National Catholic Educational Association. She was also a member of the Greensburg Italian Women's Club. She enjoyed dancing, traveling, and volunteering.
She is survived by her sons, Scott Weaver (Shelly) of Greensburg and Dr. Ryan Weaver (Natalie) of Harleysville, PA; her grandchildren, Brady, Nolan, and Gia; her sister, Rose Cattani (Bill) of Washington Crossing, PA; nieces, Allison Czarnecki (Jay) of New Hope, PA and Shirl Shawhan (Saben) of Perkasie, PA; a nephew, Aaron Cattani (Krista) of Brooklyn, New York. Her children and grandchildren were the loves of her life.
Per Mimi's request, there will be no visitation. A memorial mass will be held on Saturday, May 1, 2021, at 11:30 AM in St. Bruno Catholic Church, 1715 Poplar Street, South Greensburg. Everyone attending is asked to please wear a mask and to practice social distancing. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
