Nancy Woodward Shuey, a resident of Vero Beach, Florida, previously of Greensburg passed away comfortably on Saturday, May 9, 2015 at the local VNA Hospice Home. She had been in ill health the last several months.
Born on September 8, 1929 in Haddonfield, New Jersey, Nancy grew up in Sewell and Pitman, NJ. She then married John K. George (deceased) and moved to Greensburg, Pennsylvania, where she raised her two children, John W. George and Susan K. Howze. Later in life Nancy married Richard Shuey (deceased) in Greensburg and adopted her grandson Vance E. Phillips at age nine and raised him through his graduation and enlistment in the Marine Corps. Then retiring as the Hospitality Shop Manager at Westmoreland Hospital in Greensburg. Nancy was always passionate about Greensburg and her church the First Reformed United Church of Christ but after retirement she moved to Florida to be closer to her sister, Florence.
Nancy is survived by her two sisters, Florence Texier and Helen Wilson of North Carolina, along with her son, grandson, nieces and nephews.
Nancy will be remembered for her infectious laugh and caring ways. She made friends easily wherever she went and touched the lives of many people. Her grandson Vance benefited the most from her love, generosity, and kindness.
Local services will held at 10:00am, Saturday, May 23 at the First Reformed United Church of Christ 312 S. Maple Avenue, Greensburg,an interment immediately following at the St. Clair Cemetery, where she'll rest next to her parents Brita and John Woodward.
Remembrances will graciously be accepted in her name for the First Reformed United Church of Christ or the Greensburg Volunteer Hose Company #6 where her grandson is a member.
Nancy will be remember everyday by her family and friends and know she will be laughing from the heavens while continuing to watch over them.
