It is with deep sadness that we say goodbye to Pamela J. Caughey, 57, of Greensburg, who passed away suddenly on Saturday, March 2, 2024. An amazingly kind and gentle soul who found good in everyone, Pam’s life will be celebrated by those who knew and loved her.
Born March 26, 1966, she was the daughter of the late Nedwin and Alta Dickson of Greensburg. She is survived by her soul mate, life-long sweetheart, and devoted husband of almost 34 years, Todd J. Caughey. Pam loved her children unconditionally and was exceptionally proud of each of them: her son Nicholas Caughey and wife Chelsey, daughter Erica and her husband Billy Rethage, and her son Benjamin Caughey who, as a child with Downs, held a special place in her heart. Pam (Gigi) was blessed with three adorable grandchildren, Landon, Austin, and Noah Rethage who kept her laughing, young, and joyful. She is also survived by her sister and life-long best friend, Lori Anthony and husband Marcus, along with very special in-laws, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Pam graduated top of her class at Hempfield Area High School and earned a Bachelor’s degree from Seton Hill University in Computer Science. For most of her career, Pam worked for Bank of New York Mellon as an IT Manager but for the past few years, Todd, Ben, and Pam have owned and operated Schrader’s Dairy Queen in Jeannette. Pam loved and considered those who worked at the DQ as part of her extended family.
Among Pam's beloved companions were her tabby cat Scarlet, and 2 black labs, Tucker and Gus with Gus perhaps being her favorite. Every day, Gus would walk with Pam to get the mail and welcome Ben off the bus - he remained faithfully by her side until the very end.
Traditions, love, and family were extremely important to Pam and everyone’s life was enriched because they had some connection to her. She left a remarkable legacy of love, devotion, and kindness and we are all better for having had Pam in our lives. We know she is now at peace.
Pam was a member of Newlonsburg Presbyterian Church of Murrysville, was active with Celian Heights, and was an organ donor.
