Patricia A. Mello, 75, of Greensburg, passed away after her courageous 5 year battle with Ovarian Cancer on Wednesday September 18,2013 in her home surrounded by her loving family.
She was born April 25, 1938 in Seattle, WA. Pat was the daughter of the late Orville and Mary Ottinger Lupton .
Pat had attended the University of Washington and later finished her education at California University of Pennsylvania, receiving a Master's Degree in Education
She formerly
worked for Saint Vincent College in Latrobe. Pat was a member of Our Lady of Grace Church and a longtime volunteer and Eucharistic Minster . Pat enjoyed her memberships with the Red Hat Ladies and the New Neighbors Group of Greensburg. She had been a volunteer with the Christian Laymen's organization for many years. Pat was an avid walker and always had her friends or one of her dog companions with her. Most recently, her constant companion was her beloved dog Ginger.
Besides her parents, she
was preceded in death by her sister Virginia Enders. .
Pat was a devoted wife, mother ,grandmother and friend and is survived
by her husband Raymond M. Mello and children Marie Stowers and husband Bill of Georgia, Kevin Mello and wife Diane of Chambersburg, Kristina Anderson and husband Erik of Georgia, four grandchildren, Michael and Matthew Stowers , Sydney Anderson, and Carson Mello. Also her brothers Gerald and Martin Lupton, and sisters Pam Hamilton and Leslie Rayfield all of the Seattle area, and several nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will be received at the KEPPLE-GRAFT Funeral Home, 524 North Main Street Greensburg, on Sunday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. A prayer service will be held on Monday at the funeral home at 9:30am followed by a funeral mass at 10 am in Our Lady of Grace Church, 1001 Mt. Pleasant Road, Greensburg.
Entombment will follow in the Greensburg Catholic Cemetery.
Pat's family wishes to thank Dr. Terry Evans and the staff at Arnold Palmer Cancer Center and the staff from the Senior Independence Hospice for their excellent care and compassion.
