Paul A. Schreckengost of Greensburg, North Huntington, Bruin and Karns City, PA was born in Kaylor, PA in 1918, graduated Karns City High School in 1936, employed by Penn Drake Refining until 1942 and then a multi-location career with Linde Division of Union Carbide, Inc. which included Kittanning PA, Struthers OH and Duquesne PA. Paul retired in 1983 as Plant Manager of the Gaseous Oxygen Plant which supplied oxygen to Duquesne, Homestead, Braddock, and McKeesport plants for United States Steel. During World War II, he was stationed on Guam and served in the Army Air Force from 1943-1946. Paul was a member of various organizations namely: American Legion Post # 981 in Greensburg PA, “The Independent Order of Odd Fellows” of Butler and Armstrong Counties since 1940 and served as District Deputy Grand Master 1959 – 1960, “32nd Degree Mason” with Lodge #521 in Parker PA, “Scottish Right” in Coudersport PA and “Syria Shrine” in Pittsburgh PA. Paul was ordained an Elder in the Bruin Presbyterian Church in 1949 and served in the White Oak Presbyterian Church until 1990 when he joined The First Presbyterian Church of Greensburg. Paul was preceded in death by his wife of 34 years, Geraldine Ferne Jones Schreckengost and his grandson John Frazier. Paul shared 46 years of marriage and is survived by his wife, Jane Hurst (Hull) Schreckengost, their blended family which includes their son and three daughters: Frederick Schreckengost (Karen), Carol Kay Schreckengost Stephens, Louisa Hull Dietsch (Douglas), Elizabeth Hull Kalantari (Ali), 9 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. Family and friends will be received on Friday from 6-8 pm at Kepple-Graft Funeral Home, 524 North Main Street, Greensburg. Paul’s funeral service will be held on Saturday at 10 am in the funeral home with Rev. Martin R. Ankrum officiating. Interment will follow at 12:30 pm in Bear Creek Cemetery, Petrolia, PA. A masonic service will be held in the funeral home on Friday at 7 pm by members of the Parker Allegheny Canby Lodge No. 521. In lieu of flowers, Paul has requested memorial donations be sent to the Salvation Army, 700 North Bell Avenue, P.O. Box 742, Carnegie, PA 15106 and noted with his name.
