Paul W. Thomas 89, of Greensburg passed away on Sunday 12/4/11 at Excela Westmoreland Hospital. He was born May 17, 1922 in Hempfield Township, a son of the late Herbert W. and Agnes Lane Thomas.
Prior to retirement he was employed by Bell Telephone Co. of Pa. for 37 years. He was a World War II veteran having served in Italy with 341st Signal Co. Wing of the 15th Army Air Corp.
He was an active member of the First United Methodist Church of Greensburg, having served on many boards there. He was also a charter member of the PA CLEANWAYS WESTMORELAND CHAPTER and a past board member. Paul was also a Past Master of Masonic Lodge # 461 F. & A.M. of California, Pa.
He was predeceased besides his parents by two brothers, Leroy and Lester and by three sisters, Cleo and Edythe Myers and Eleanor Smith.
He is survived by his wife of 69 A½ years, Helen Sanner Thomas, two daughters Linda (Jim) Riggs of Blain, Pa and Donna Garlisi of California, five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren will also cherish memories of their Grandfather along with a sister in law, Mary Thomas and numerous nieces and nephews.
There will be no public viewing. A memorial service will be held in the First United Methodist Church 22 East Second Street, Greensburg, Pa on Saturday, December 17 at 2pm with Rev. W. Steven Morse officiating.
