Philip L. Smalley, 88, of Greensburg, passed away Monday, Feb. 5, 2024. He was born Dec. 2, 1935, in Hempfield Township, a son of the late Lawrence and Myrtle (Kessler) Smalley. Mr. Smalley held a variety of employment, having last worked for JC Penney. He had also been employed by the Hempfield Area School District, Jeanette Sheet Glass, Westinghouse and Rathgeb Dairy. Phil was a charter member of Grace Baptist Church and a veteran of the U.S. Army. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Doris J. (Walthour) Smalley; his son, Jeffrey Smalley and several siblings. He is survived by his devoted children; his daughter, Tammy R. Albers (Brent), and his son, Pastor Greg L. Smalley (Christine); seven grandchildren, Eric Albers (Jenna), Stephanie Smith (Zach), Jeffrey Trojan (Jessica), Chelsea Nasso (Brian), Amber Clancy (Michael), Brad Smalley (Angelica) and Alyssa Smalley; seven great-grandchildren, Hayden, Calloway, Caleb, Skyler, Blake, Paisley Jean and Makenna; and several nieces and nephews. Family and friends will be received from 10 a.m. to noon Friday, Feb. 9, 2024, in Grace Baptist Church, 4463 State Route 136, Greensburg, where his funeral service will be held at noon with Pastor Victor Koshir officiating. Interment will follow in the Westmoreland County Memorial Park with military honors bestowed by VFW Post 33, Greensburg, and the playing of taps by his son, Greg.
