Phyllis Shearer

Phyllis Leshock Shearer, of Greensburg and Naples, FL, passed away suddenly on May 25, 2022.  She was born May 5, 1945, a daughter of the late Joseph and Davida (Monskie) Leshock.  Phyllis was a 1963 graduate of Greensburg Salem High School, where she met her husband, Joseph H. Shearer.  Married as teenagers, she and Joe went on to have 58 love and laughter filled years together.  She was a devoted and loving mother to her three children, Lisa Shearer, Kelly (Scott) Turer and J.D. (Carrie) Shearer.  She was also a proud grandmother of Olivia, Nathan, Abby and Jack.  Phyllis was a member of the Latrobe Presbyterian Church.  For many years, Phyllis was a member of the Latrobe Area Hospital Aid Society and the Latrobe Women’s Club.  She was also a member of the Latrobe County Club, Quail West Golf and Country Club, Royal Poinciana Golf Club, and the Duquesne Club.  Phyllis was an accomplished cook and loved entertaining, hosting epic family get-togethers.  She created and maintained a warm, inviting home where many a Gin Rummy game was played.  Summer Saturdays found Phyllis at the Ligonier County Market while Fall Saturdays were spent cheering on the Nittany Lions.  She was predeceased by her parents as well as a brother, David.  Surviving are her husband, her children and her grandchildren all of whom will miss her love and fierce loyalty.  She is also survived by her brothers James (Carolyn) Leshock and Dennis (Carol) Leshock, sister Lorraine (Raymond) Attenberger, sister-in-law, Carol Leshock and numerous nieces and nephews.  She will be remembered for her crisp, white blouses, for her family Christmas parties and for naming each of her poodles “Sam”.  Friends and family will be received from   1 to 5 pm Sunday, May 29th at Kepple-Graft Funeral Home, 524 North Main Street, Greensburg.  A private funeral ceremony will be held.   In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to CASA of Westmoreland, 2 N.
