Rachel Hatch

April 14, 1931 — September 13, 2014

Rachel A. (Aldrich) Hatch , 83, of Greensburg, went home to be with her Lord in His Eternal Kingdom on Saturday, September 13, 2014 and is reunited with her loving husband, Gordon, of 53 years. She passed away peacefully at Redstone Highlands with her family by her side. She was born April 14, 1931, in Sheridan, NY, daughter of Sydney E. Aldrich and Freda R. (Voit) Aldrich.

Rachel graduated from Silver Creek High School in 1949 and Jamestown Business College, NY in 1951. Before she began her life as a devoted wife and beloved mother, she worked as a medical secretary in a doctor's office in Dunkirk, NY and in medical records at City Hospital in Meadville, PA. Rachel was a member of the Greensburg Alliance Church for 57 years where she attended faithfully and dearly loved her Lord. She was fashioned by God's own hand and was a genuine reflection of Christ's love.

She had such a sweet spirit, always praying fervently for others. Anyone who knew Rachel would agree that their lives have been changed as a result of knowing her and that she resembled an Angel. She was an inspiration to every life that she touched. Rachel loved so unconditionally and will always be known as the best encourager ever. She had an indescribable gentle, kind, caring, selfless nature and ALWAYS put others first. From her life, she taught us to enjoy every moment and be thankful for what we have. She found joy in the simplest of things, from watching a flower bloom to beauty of the bright blue sky. Rachel's life was devoted to being a wonderful Wife and Mother and taking care of her family. She filled our home with more tender love and kindness than it could hold. No mother could be loved more by her children ---we were so blessed to have her in our lives. Although our future will be very different without our beloved Mother, we find comfort in the assurance of knowing that the grave is not the end and it was time for you to go home and be with Dad. Although everything within us wants to hold onto you here on this earth, we know that we will see you again in a little while, where real life begins in God's Eternal Kingdom.

Rachel was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon P. Hatch, on November 28, 2009; two sisters, Elizabeth J. Ortman of Meadville, PA and Martha L. Aldrich of Westfield, NY. She is survived by two children, Paul Gordon Hatch, of Youngwood; a daughter Rebecca Lynn Davidson and her husband, Glenn, of Greensburg; and a number of nieces and nephews and cousins. She also leaves behind her grand dog, Harley, whom she dearly loved and truly enjoyed spending each and every day of her last 8 years with him right beside her chair.
The family would like to recognize and express our sincere appreciation to all of the caregivers and employees of Redstone Highlands Skilled Nursing Facility for the excellent and compassionate care of both Gordon and Rachel - Rachel during her last few days of life and Gordon as a resident for nearly 4 years.
