Ralph Henderson

Ralph W. Henderson, 69 of Hempfield Twp. passed away on Monday, April 11, 2011 in Westmoreland Excela Hospital after fighting a long but courageous battle with heart disease and cancer .
Ralph was preceded in death by his son Alan, his father Graeson (Whitey), his mother Kathryn (Yeager) Henderson a brother Elliott of Charleston, W.V. Also two special people in his life, his uncle, Davis Yeager of Fairfield Twp. who was a second father to Ralph and Mildred (Mootz) Yeager of Bolivar who was more like a sister than an aunt. Ralph is survived by the loves of his life, his wife Barbara, a very special daughter Jodi Lynn Schneider and husband Tom and his beautiful granddaughter Aidan of Pittsburgh and his wonderful and comical grandson, Ryan and his mother Tiffany Llich.
Ralph was known as pappy to his grandchildren. He also had two adopted grandchildren, Asia and Mya daughters of his nephew, Kevin Henderson and wife Kim of California. His cousin Cory Yeager and his aunt Alice Yeager and cousins Lannie Lear, Sandy Carter and Bonnie Pittsinger.
Also his sister-in-law Janet Ponchione and husband Nick
of Johnstown, and extended family Joshua and Jeffrey Becker and Shawn Donavan. Also many wonderful nieces and nephews, aunts and cousins. His family was his life. He was born in Johnstown on 12/7/1941 (Pearl Harbor Day). Ralph graduated from Laurel Valley High School class of 1959. He then attended the Conemaugh Valley Memorial Hospital School of Radiologic Technology in Johnstown where he meet the love of his life, his wife, Barbara.
They married on September 19, 1961. He then graduated January2, 1962. He was employed by All Souls Hospital, Morristown, New Jersey from 1962 to 1963. He returned to Pennsylvania and was employed by McKeesport Hospital from 1963 to 1969. Ralph, Barbara and Jodi came to Greensburg in August in 1969 where he was employed by Westmoreland Hospital as the Radiology Manager. While working at Westmoreland Hospital Ralph attended night school at Laroche College in Pittsburgh, and in 1997 graduated magna cum laude, with a Bachelor of Arts in Radiology. Ralph retired from Westmoreland in 2004. While employed he was a member of the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists, the American Healthcare Radiology Administrators and was a charter member of the Pittsburgh Area Radiology Managers. Ralph was a member of the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in West Point where he served as an usher and greeter. Ralph will be remembered for his positive attitude, his smile and hearty laugh, and how he loved to tell jokes. His greatest life achievement was his family and that he had many friends. This is the greatest achievement any man can have.
Family and friends will be received at the Kepple-Graft Funeral Home, 524 N. Main St. Greensburg on Wednesday from 6-8 pm and Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm with additional visitation at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church on Friday from 10 to 11 am followed by a service with Rev. Frank Podolinski officiating. Interment will follow in the Westmoreland Co. Memorial Park.
