Richard C. Immel

August 23, 1929 — January 29, 2025

Richard “Dick” Immel, 95, of Greensburg, PA, passed away peacefully on January 29, 2025, in his hometown. Born on August 23, 1929, to William W. and Viola (Wible) Immel, Dick lived a life of service, dedication, and kindness.

A proud veteran, Dick served in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict before beginning a 40-year career with Verizon (formerly Bell Atlantic). He was also a devoted member of the Telephone Pioneers, where he built lasting friendships and contributed to his community.

Faith played a central role in Dick’s life. A longtime member of Westminster Presbyterian Church, he served as both an elder and the church treasurer for many years, always leading with integrity and generosity. His commitment to service extended beyond the church, as he spent countless hours delivering meals to those in need through Meals on Wheels.

An avid golfer, Dick enjoyed spending time on the greens as a member of Norvelt Golf Course. Whether on the course or in daily life, he approached everything with patience and good humor.

Above all, Dick was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He shared 61 wonderful years with his beloved wife, Nylene (Hutchison) Immel. Together, they raised four daughters: Patricia Haught, Linda Kniskern, Suzanne Runge, and Karen Brailey (Paul). He was a proud grandfather to Matthew Haught (Keli), Hunter Kniskern, Tyler and Eric Runge, and Sarah and Megan Brailey, as well as a cherished great-grandfather to Brynn and Jackson Haught.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Nylene, seven brothers, Walter, Ralph, Leslie, John, James, Donald, Roy, three sisters, Anna, Doris, and Dolores, and his son-in-law, Gilbert Haught.

He is survived by his daughters, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and his brother, Luther Immel.

Dick’s legacy of faith, service, and love will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. His family and friends will miss him dearly but find comfort in the many memories they shared.

The daughters would like to thank Penn Hospice and Newhaven Court at Lindwood for their loving care and treating our father with compassion, love, dignity, and respect.

A memorial service will be held at Westminster Presbyterian Church 1120 Harvey Avenue, Greensburg on Monday, February 3, 2025 at noon. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the church.
