Richard Smith

Richard M. Smith, 86 of Greensburg, passed away on January 20, 2015 in Hempfield Manor.

He was born in Greensburg on November 20, 1928 a son of the late William and Florence (Taylor) Smith .

Richard served in the army during the Korean War.

Prior to retirement, he worked as a Machinist for the former General Tire of Jeannette.

Richard was a member of the Church of Brethren in Greensburg, VFW Post 33 in Greensburg and was a charter member of Fort Allen Fire Department.

Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his sisters, Flora Jean Katonka and Dorothy Maffit and brothers, Bob, Bill, Glenn, and infant brother Alfred Smith.

Surviving are his wife, Helen M. (Warziski) Smith; children, Richard Smith, Jeffrey Smith and wife, Kristen, Charles Rugh, and Nancy Halvey and husband, Richard; grandchildren, Ashley Smith, Amanda Tuttle, David Smith, Ryan Smith, Kaylor Smith; great grandson, Noah Tuttle; brother John Smith and sisters, Gladys Steffey and Sara Hauger.

Family and friend will be received on Friday from 4 to 8pm at the KEPPLE-GRAFT Funeral Home 524 N. Main Street, Greensburg, PA.

Services will be held in the funeral home on Saturday at 10am with Rev. Dr. A. Harrison Smith officiating.

Interment will follow in the Westmoreland County Memorial Park with military honors provided by VFW Post 33 of Greensburg.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Church of Brethren 554 Stanton Street, Greensburg, PA 15601.
