Richard Truxal, 87, of Greensburg, died Monday, Sept. 23, 2013, in Westmoreland Manor. He was born Sept. 18, 1926, in Greensburg, son of the late Roy and Laura Haines Truxal. Rich served in the Navy during World War II in the South Pacific. He was a longtime, active member of First Reformed United Church of Christ of Greensburg. Rich was a retired mould maker and plant manager for the former Keystone Mould Co. He was a charter member and former president of the Ten-Tra-Hi camping club and was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels, delivering food to the shut-ins in the area. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife of 48 years, Gladys Schindler Truxal; a sister, Helen Truxal; and two brothers, Charles and Wayne Truxal. He is survived by his present wife of 15 years, Norma Jean Stofko Truxal; three children, Beverly Bortz and husband, Rick, Jay Truxal and wife, Darlene, and Lori Hughes; stepdaughter, Paula and husband, Rick Hildenbrand; grandchildren, Ryan Bortz and wife, Elizabeth, Karl Bortz and wife, Deena, Jerad Bortz and partner, Steven Skeels, Jeremy Truxal and wife, Corinne, Allison Truxal, Amy Nole and husband, Scott, Erin Truxal and Joshua and Rebecca Hughes; stepgranddaughter, Brooke; and great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Morgan, Owen and Brianna Bortz. Rich will be remembered for his witty, dry sense of humor. He enjoyed many years as a golfer, fisherman, painter and traveler, camping throughout the U.S. Rich was proud of his artistry as a glass mould maker and was known by many as Mr. Fix-it. Family and friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the KEPPLE-GRAFT FUNERAL HOME, 524 N. Main Street, Greensburg. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, in First Reformed United Church of Christ, with the Rev. Steve Craft officiating. (Everyone go directly to the church.) Interment, with full military honors accorded by the South Greensburg American Legion Post 981, will be held in Westmoreland County Memorial Park.
