Richard Ray "Dick" White, 85, of Greensburg, passed away Sunday, Jan. 11, 2015.
He was born Nov. 24, 1929, in Greensburg, a son of the late Charles Edgar and Josephine Caldwell White.
Dick was a graduate of Greensburg High School, class of 1947. He graduated as a Pennsylvania professional draftsman after completing a four year apprenticeship program at the I-T-E Circuit Breaker Company. Dick was an active member of the First United Methodist Church, where he served as an usher and on the finance committee for many years. Dick retired from the former I-T-E Circuit Breaker Company and ASEA Brown Boveri after 40 years of service. An avid golfer, Civil War buff and enjoyed reading American History; Dick was a collector of American Revolution 1776 memorabilia and was a woodworker. He was an active member of the I-T-E Veterans Club, Westmoreland County Senior Golf League and General Arthur St. Clair Chapter, the Pennsylvania State Society and National Society of the Sons of the American Revolution.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 60 years, Lois Jane Henkel White, whom he married Feb. 14, 1951; and his infant brother, Charles E. White Jr.
Surviving are his children; daughter, Beverly White Labian and her companion, Byron A. Kelsey; son, Douglas R. White; three grandchildren, Kristin J. Labian, Emily Ann White and Drake Andrew White; great-grandson, Conner X. Grant; a niece, Nancy Nichols Garvin; and nephew, Dr. C. Richard Nichols.
Dick's family would like to thank St. Anne Home and staff for their kindness, compassion and loving care while he was a resident.
Family and friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the KEPPLE-GRAFT FUNERAL HOME, 524 N. Main St., Greensburg. Additional visitation will be held from 1:30 until the time of the service at 2 p.m. Thursday in First United Methodist Church with the Rev. W. Stephen Morse, officiating. Everyone please go directly to the church. Private interment will take place in St. Clair Cemetery.
