Robert I. Baker, 82 of Greensburg went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, May 3, 2011 .
He was born on September 9, 1929 in Greensburg and was raised by Aldora Oglesby who treated him like her own son.
Bob served in the Army during the Korean War and later was employed with the former Bell Telephone Co. and had retired from the Verizon Company.
He was a board member of the Arts and Heritage Festival, a board member of the Ligonier Country Market, past board member of the Transit Authority,
former director of the Communication workers of America and past president of the organization, past president of the Baltzer Meyer Historical Society and a member of VFW Post #33 in Greensburg.
He was preceded in death by his brothers and sisters, Hernando Penman, Louis Paul Penman, Edward Baker, Daniel Mathers and Geraldine Knaus.
Surviving are his wife LeeAnn of 53 years, (May 3, 1958) and children Kelly LeeAnn Genard and husband Robert, and Robert Allen Baker and wife Deborah. Also two grandson's Steven and Nathan Genard both of whom were dearly loved and nurtured by their grandfather from the time they were born. Two step grandson's Alan and Jered Schick who found their way into his heart. His sisters, Mary Ann McClain and Laura Oglesby, sister-in-laws Judy Baker and Jean Penman, brothers-in-law Eugene Knaus and a number of nieces and nephews.
Bob was the type of person who found his way into your heart. He was a good teacher to his children and grandchildren showing them the way life should be and how psychologically how to achieve it. (We love you Dad and Pop.)
Family and Friends will be received at the Kepple-Graft Funeral Home, 524 N. Main Street, Greensburg on Wednesday from 6-8 pm and again on Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm.
Services will be held at the funeral home on Friday beginning at 10 am with Rev. Aimee Twigg officiating.
Interment service's with full military honors accorded by the VFW Post #33 will follow in the St. Clair Cemetery .
