Robert H. Piekarski

September 9, 1929 — February 25, 2025

Robert H. Piekarski, 95, of Greensburg, died, Tuesday, February 25, 2025, in Forbes Hospital. He was born in Pittsburgh on September 9, 1929, a son of the late Stanley and Ottilia Bumann Piekarski. Robert was a member of Our Lady of Grace Church, Greensburg. For much of his life he was a member of St. James the Greater Church, Apollo, where he often commentated at mass along with helping to organize church picnics and festivals. A proud Army veteran, he often wished he could have served longer and still supports military veterans. Dad’s passion in life was his business, Stanford Home Centers, which he established with the help of his father, eventually involving all family members. It is still a family-run business of which he was very proud. In his younger years he enjoyed trapping and hunting, once capturing a mink, causing mischief with friends, Boy Scouts and collecting stamps. A nature lover, he always talked of his favorite trip to see the Redwood Forest and Giant Sequoias. He could often be heard quoting a saying passed down from his mother, “pin a rose on me”. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy “Dottie” Piekarski; also, his brother, Carl Piekarski. Robert is survived by his children, Robert C. Piekarski (Roberta) and Nancy K. Piekarski Coons (James); his sister, Lorraine Piekarski; grandchildren, Zachary Coons (Theresa), Corin Coons and Dakin Coons (Miranda); 2 nieces, Angela Clark and Susie Reese, nephew, Darin Piekarski; sister-in-law, Frances Piekarski; also, his buddy, Joanne Kommer. Family and friends will be received on Sunday, March 2, 2025, from 1 pm to 4 pm at Kepple-Graft Funeral Home, 524 North Main Street, Greensburg. A funeral mass for Robert will be held on Monday, March 3, 2025, at 10 am in Our Lady of Grace Church, 1011 Mount Pleasant Road, Greensburg. Everyone is asked to go directly to church. Private burial will follow. The family would like to thank Kari for the excellent care she has shown Bob over the years.
