Robert W. Schneider, Sr., 83 of Greensburg passed away peacefully, Friday, April 17, 2015 after a brief illness.
He was born in Pittsburgh, PA, son of the late Robert William and Agnes (Mckibben) Schneider and was the first in his family to go to college. Bob was a topnotch salesman for 40 years and enjoyed close relationships with clients, family, and friends alike.
Bob was a daily communicant and longtime parishioner at the Blessed Sacrament Cathedral. He was co-founder of the St. Vincent de Paul Store in Greensburg and also a member of the St. Vincent de Paul Society of the Cathedral where he organized many projects to benefit local low-income residents. Bob was a proud US Army veteran who served with distinction during the Korean War. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus, the Christian Family Movement and the American Legion.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 44 years, Rosemary (Klingensmith) Schneider, his infant son, Jon Eric Schneider, and sisters, Loretta Overly, Bernice Graff, Ellen Gedraitis, and Irma Pernatozzi.
Surviving are his sons, Robert W. Schneider, Jr. (Holly) of Pittsburgh, Glenn E. Schneider (Janice) of Columbia, MD, and Gregg E. Schneider (Tracy) of Pittsburgh; grandchildren, Eric, Evan, Ella Rose, and Jacob; sister, Phyllis Keast; several nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews, and his companion and dear friend, Mary Weber.
Family and friends will be received Sunday from 6-8 pm and Monday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at the KEPPLE-GRAFT Funeral Home, 524 N. Main Street, Greensburg.
A blessing service will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday at 9 am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 am in the Blessed Sacrament Cathedral, Greensburg.
Interment services will be held at noon on Tuesday in the Calvary Cemetery in Pittsburgh.
