Robert Shrader

Robert 'Boo' Shrader, 84 of South Greensburg passed away surrounded by his family on Tuesday, December 24, 2024.

He was born May 6, 1940 in Foxtown, PA, the son of the late Elmer S. Shrader and Genevieve L. Blackson Shrader.

He served in the Army during the Vietnam War. Prior to retirement, Boo worked for the Water Authority of Westmoreland County. He was a longtime member of the Third United Church of Christ. He was a past fire chief for the South Greensburg Fire Department and had been a member for over 60 years. Boo loved spending time with his family especially his children and grandchildren. He was a prominent resident of South Greensburg where he assisted with the Huff Avenue Beautification Project which included the park on Huff Avenue. Boo also volunteered with Share the Joy for 20 years.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Don Clair.

Surviving are his children, David F. Shrader (Kathy), Ann M. Carleton (Jeff), and Jonathan R. Shrader (Jessica); five grandchildren, Jacob Shrader (Andrea Valencia), Cameron and Alex Carleton, Aliya Mowry (Leon), and Paige Shrader; and sister, Kay Clair.

Family and friends will be received on Friday, December 27th from 4 to 8pm at the KEPPLE-GRAFT Funeral Home 524 N. Main Street, Greensburg. A fireman's service will be held on Friday at 7pm in the funeral home. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home on Saturday, December 28th at 11am.

Interment will follow in the Hillview Cemetery, Greensburg with military honors by South Greensburg American Legion Post 981.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Share the Joy 549 Fairfield Drive, Greensburg, PA 15601.
