Ruth W. Cannon passed away quietly in Greensburg on May 12, 2012 after a long illness. Ruth was born in 1921 in Mount Lebanon to John Watson and Grace Holman. Her parents, her sister Jean Rossiter, and her brother-in-law Glen Rossiter pre-deceased her.
She was married to Neil Thompson and lived in the Churchill area for many years. She became a real estate broker and ultimately started her own company, Thompson-Smith Real Estate. She was an avid bridge player, and was active in Beulah Church and the Edgewood Country Club. She loved to travel and saw much of the world. In later life, she married Jack Cannon and they moved to Greensburg.
Surviving are her son and daughter-in-law Terrence and Kathy Thompson; daughter and son-in-law Linda Thompson and Mark London, grandchildren Monica Bernatowicz, Alexandra London-Thompson, Natasha Mast, and great-grandchildren Tiffany and Megan Bernatowicz, Jasper Stray-London, and Sebastian Mast.
Also surviving are the four additional children and their spouses Ruth gained when she married Jack: Judy Ulmer and Steve, John Cannon Jr. and Phyllis, Nancy Kline and Jeff, and Gary Cannon and Pam, as well as their nine children and eleven grandchildren.
Her family was blessed to have had such a kind, beautiful, and spunky mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother for so many years.
Ruth was a member of First Presbyterian, 300 South Main Street, Greensburg, PA 15601, where a memorial service will be held on Saturday July 14 at 2:30pm.
