Ruth A. Woomer, 90 of Greensburg, passed away on Saturday, December 11, 2010 in St. Anne Home.
She was born Tuesday, April 13, 1920 in Jeannette, Daughter of the late Frank and Kathryn Stemple McQuay.
Ruth was the first woman bank executive with the former Southwest Bank in Greensburg and had served 34 years with the bank before her retirement. In 1973 she was honored as "Women of the Year" by the bank .
She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Greensburg and one of the founding members of the Greensburg YWCA. She had been honored by the Westmoreland Girls Scouts with the "Women of Distinction Award" and was an active volunteer with the Westmoreland Symphony and many other community organizations.
She was preceded in death besides her parents by her husband Robert E. Woomer in 1998 and a sister Betty J. Howell..
She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Honoring Ruth's wish's there will be no public visitation.
A funeral service celebrating Ruth's life will be held at First United Methodist Church, 15 E. Second Street, Greensburg on Tuesday at 11 am with Rev. Dr. Duane Morford officiating.
Entombment will follow in the St. Clair Cemetery.
