Shawn Michael Boyle, 50, of Greensburg, Hempfield Township, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 2, 2016, at Excela Health Westmoreland Hospital surrounded by his loving family after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born Jan. 17, 1966, in Honolulu, Hawaii, a son of Thomas Edward Boyle, of Jeannette, and the late Sharen Hilliard Boyle. Prior to retirement, Shawn was in-house corporate counsel for Keystone Collections Group. He was a dedicated veteran with 32 years of service between the Army and Air Force, attaining the rank of major and serving as an officer of the Judge Advocate General's Corps. He was a member of Military Officers Association of America (MOAA), Amvets Post 88, Greensburg, American Legion Post 981, Greensburg, and the Westmoreland County Bar Association. He was a member of Blessed Sacrament Cathedral, Greensburg. Shawn was a lifelong learner, with degrees from Pitt, Duquesne and Seton Hill Universities. He was also an avid reader and chess player who, above all else, adored his family. In addition to his mother, Sharen Boyle, he was also preceded in death by his stepmother, Patricia Bianco; and a daughter, Casey Jean. In addition to his father, he is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Sarah Jessica (Briggs) Boyle; his children, Samantha Reagan, of Wilmerding, Christopher Myers-Boyle, of Greensburg, and Cathleen Boyle, at home; two grandsons, Daniel Uziel and Joshua Reagan; his brothers and sisters, Betty Lou Alcorn (Mark), Tara Lynn (Shawn), Doris Myers, Thomas P. Boyle, Brian C. Boyle (Kimberly); also his in-laws, Richard L. and Ellen A Briggs; sister and brother-in-law, Elizabeth Jones (Daniel) and Neil Briggs; and numerous aunts uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. Family and friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday in the KEPPLE-GRAFT FUNERAL HOME INC., 524 N. Main St., Greensburg where prayers of transfer will be recited at 9 a.m. Monday in the funeral home, followed by his funeral Mass at 9:30 a.m. in Blessed Sacrament Cathedral. Interment will follow in St. Clair Cemetery, Greensburg. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 510 Pellis Road, No. 203, Greensburg, PA 15601.
