Shirley Mcmullen

June 17, 1924 — August 22, 2010

Shirley M. McMullen, formerly from Strodes Mills, McVeytown and Lewistown, PA peacefully passed away on Sunday, August 22 at Greensburg Care Center under the care of Grane Hospice.

Shirley was born Tuesday, June 17, 1924 in Minneapolis, MN, Daughter of the late Joseph W. (Bill) Dillree and Catherine (VanStone) Dillree.

Her husband and best friend, George H. (Mick) McMullen preceded her in death, June 17th 1994.
She also was preceded in death by an infant son William Bennett McMullen, sister Winifred Dillree Parnell, two brothers, Bill Dillree, Jr. and Jack Dillree.

She is survived by daughter Georgia McMullen Smith and husband Richard K. of Ligonier, PA. granddaughter Deanna K. Yersin and husband Andrew G. of Des Moines, IA and a sister Marjorie Dillree Hicks of Melbourne, FL, many close cousins, nieces and nephews.

She attended Yeagertown High School and graduated from Lewistown High School in 1943. Shirley was a civil service clerk at the Naval Supply Depot in Mechanicsburg from 1944-1946. Manager of Boys Department for Bob Davis Men's Department Store, employed by American Viscose, Pennsylvania Glass and Sand Corp. and retired from Lewistown Hospital after 17 1/2 years as Director of Medical Records and Accredited Record Technician. She was a member of Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church and also attended Rhodes Memorial United Methodist Church, a member of the Mifflin County Historical Society, Order of Eastern Star, a member and served on the Board of Pennsylvania Medical Records Assoc., life member of Lewistown Hospital Auxiliary, Christian Women Association, Lewistown Music Study Club, and Mifflin County Senior Extension. Her hobbies were making candles, cross stitching and making and enjoying friends which she had many.

Memorial service arrangements are incomplete at this time. Inurnment will be private at Mt. Rock Cemetery, Lewistown, PA at a future date.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to either church of choice. Arrangements are in the care of Kepple-Graft Funeral Home of Greensburg.
