Stephen J. (Chip) Harhai Sr. 83 of Greensburg, passed away Friday September 23, 2016 comfortably at home with his wife of 59 years Mary (Mangeno) Harhai by his side after a short battle with cancer.
Chip is survived by his wife Mary (Mangeno) Harhai, Greensburg; two sons, Stephen J. Harhai Jr. and wife Paula, Greensburg and Bryan D. Harhai and wife Ranelle, Greensburg and Williston, FL; two grandchildren, Joshua Harhai, who is currently training in the US Air Force and Elizabeth Harhai, who is attending St. Vincent College. Siblings, Natalie Hausele, Loyalhanna, Andy (Evelyn) Harhai, Monroeville, Alabama, Margaret (Emery) Secosky, Punxsutawney, Pauline (Tom) Hendrickson, Pleasant Unity and numerous nieces, nephews and godchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents Paul and Henrietta (Pawlyshyn) Harhai, siblings, Mary Beluschok, Ann Hritzko, Eve Gula, Michael Harhai, Stella Vella, Pearl Klaka and his granddog Abbey Harhai, who passed away within hours of Chip.
Chip was a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, Greensburg, lifetime member of the South Greensburg Hunt Club. He served in the United States Air Force and retired from J&L Steel in Pittsburgh. During retirement Chip served as a deputy for the Pennsylvania Fish Commission. His true loves were his family, hunting, fishing, trapping, working around his house, garage, barn and property.
Chip’s grandchildren Josh and Elizabeth will always remember their Pappy as their one and only babysitter and daycare.

Family and friends will be received on Tuesday, from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the Kepple-Graft Funeral Home, 524 North Main Street, Greensburg, PA. A prayer service will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday at 11:00AM with Fr. Daniel Blout officiating. Entombment will take place in the St. Clair mausoleum. Military Honors will be provided by Greensburg VFW Post 33.
