Suzanne Birmingham

July 22, 1930 — January 6, 2014

Suzanne Donald Birmingham died peacefully on January 6, 2014, after a long illness.

She was born in Pittsburgh on July 22, 1930 and grew up in Greensburg, the daughter of the late Donald C. W. Birmingham and Gertrude Price Birmingham.

She graduated Winchester-Thurston School, Centenary College and the University of Pittsburgh.

After teaching elementary school for several years, she raised her own family of three cherished daughters. Sue had a gentle and whimsical spirit and above all, loved joyful family gatherings and adventures.

She is survived by her daughters: Elizabeth M. Locke and her husband Clayton of Surrey, England and their children William and Sara; Alice B. Mitinger of Pittsburgh; and Louise P. Mitinger and her husband Vance Torbert of Pittsburgh and their daughter Emily.

She is also survived by three sisters: Helen Keenan of Vero Beach, Florida, Nancy Jamison (Mrs. Henry) of Greensburg, and Margot Perot and her husband Ross of Dallas, Texas, as well as many devoted nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister Barbara McLeod (Mrs. Richard).

Her family would like to express their gratitude for the loving care she received from Donna Stephens, Dana Packey, Lisa Strazzera, Kena Raygor and Kelly Miller and all the others who supported her.

The family will receive friends from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Friday, January 10 at Kepple-Graft Funeral Home 524 N. Main Street, Greensburg.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 11, at the First Presbyterian Church of Greensburg.
